Detailed notes
The fine print is here.
Wyoming Low Voltage / Limited Apprentice Technician Registration
The Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office requires all apprentice technicians working in low voltage or limited electrical trades to register before performing work. This is the entry-level registration for individuals beginning their career in low voltage or equipment-specific electrical work.
What This Registration Authorizes
Registered apprentice technicians may perform low voltage electrical work (systems under 90 volts) or limited electrical work (load-side equipment connections) under the direct supervision of a licensed Low Voltage Technician or Limited Technician.
Registration Requirements
- Government-issued photo identification required
- Must be employed by a company holding a current Wyoming Low Voltage / Limited Contractor license
- Unique personal email address required for the online portal account
Fees
- Application Fee: $20
- Renewal Fee: $20 annually
Apprenticeship Progression
The apprenticeship track requires 4,000 hours of on-the-job training (approximately 2 years) in the relevant trade category. Upon completion, apprentice technicians are eligible to sit for either the Low Voltage Technician or Limited Technician examination.
Consequences of Working Unregistered
Performing low voltage or limited electrical work without a valid apprentice registration violates Wyoming Statute 35-9-123. The Electrical Board may take enforcement action against both the unregistered individual and their employer.
