The Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office issues the Limited Technician license for individuals who perform electrical work on the load side of the disconnect for specific equipment types, such as HVAC systems, elevators, refrigeration units, and similar specialized equipment.

What This License Authorizes

This license does not authorize general electrical wiring work.

  • Documentation: Notarized letters from past employers indicating the type of work and number of hours
  • Examination: Must pass the Limited Technician exam

Employment Requirement

All Limited Technicians must be employed at all times by a company holding a current Wyoming Low Voltage / Limited Contractor license.

  • Code Requirement: At least 4 of the 8 hours must cover the National Electrical Code (NEC)
