Maryland Master Electrician License
The Maryland Board of Master Electricians issues statewide licenses for electrical contractors. Maryland is one of the states that regulates electrical work at the state level.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of electrical experience, including 4 years as a licensed journeyman
- Examination: Must pass the state Master Electrician exam
- Insurance: General liability (including property damage) insurance is required by the Board of Electricians. Workers' compensation is not a Board licensure requirement.
- Application Fee: $20

- Continuing Education: 10 hours per renewal cycle (5 hours must be live/in-person), including NEC updates
- Late Penalty: $28 within 30-day grace period
