Ohio Plumbing Contractor License (State)
The Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) issues state plumbing contractor licenses for commercial plumbing work. This is one of the specific trades that requires state-level licensing in Ohio.
Requirements
- Experience: Must hold a tradesperson license for not less than 5 years immediately prior to application
- Examination: Must pass the OCILB plumbing contractor exam
- Application Fee: $25 application fee + exam fee
- Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance

Ohio's Unique Structure
Ohio requires state licensing for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and hydronics contractors. However, there is NO state-level general contractor license. General contracting is regulated at the municipal level.

State plumbing contractor license covers commercial plumbing work. Holders can:

- Work on drainage and sewer systems
