Cincinnati Ohio Contractor Registration
Cincinnati requires contractors to register with the Department of Buildings and Inspections before performing construction work within city limits. This is a registration system, not a licensing exam.
Requirements
- Insurance: General liability insurance with minimum $100,000 per person and $300,000 per occurrence
- Workers' Compensation: Proof of workers' compensation insurance required
- Application Fee: $131.25 per year ($125 base + 3% technology surcharge + 1% financial recovery fee + 1% training surcharge)
- Processing: Minimum 10 business days
Multi-Year Registration
Cincinnati allows contractors to register for up to 3 years by paying all yearly fees in advance. For state-licensed trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), the registration is valid until the state license expires.
