North Carolina General Contractor License (Limited)
The Limited General Contractor license is the entry-level tier issued by the NCLBGC, allowing contractors to undertake single projects valued up to $750,000.
Requirements
- Threshold: License required for projects valued at $40,000 or more
- Examination: Must pass the NASCLA examination
- Financial: Net worth in excess of $17,000, or a $250,000 surety bond
- Business Registration: Must be legally registered to conduct business in NC

- Renewal Period: Annual (by January 1)

- Late Fee: $10 after December 31
- Continuing Education: 8 hours per year

- Single project maximum: $750,000
- Suitable for smaller residential and commercial projects
