Get the filing straight.

    Complete the 8 required hours before you start the renewal.

    Make sure the required policies are current and match what the board or agency expects before you file.

    File through New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and pay the $200.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

New Jersey Radon Mitigation Certification


The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) certifies radon mitigation contractors under the Radon Hazard Subcode. New Jersey has some of the highest radon levels in the country, making proper certification essential.


Requirements


  • Examination: Must pass the NJ radon mitigation exam
  • Training: Initial radon mitigation training course
  • Insurance: General liability insurance required
  • Continuing Education: 8 hours per renewal cycle
  • Application Fee: $400 (mitigation business)

  • Late Penalty: Expired certification requires paying initial rate ($400)

Scope of Work


Certified radon mitigation contractors may design, install, and maintain radon mitigation systems in residential and commercial buildings throughout New Jersey.


Penalties for Non-Compliance


Performing radon mitigation without valid DEP certification is a violation of the Radon Hazard Subcode. Penalties include fines and loss of certification.
