Kansas Underground Storage Tank Contractor License
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issues underground storage tank (UST) contractor licenses under the Kansas Storage Tank Act. Only Kansas-licensed contractors may install, remove, or repair UST systems in the state.
What This License Authorizes
A UST contractor license authorizes the firm to install, remove, and repair underground storage tank systems throughout Kansas. The license is valid in all counties and municipalities statewide.
Requirements
To qualify for a contractor license, at least one active officer or executive of the business must possess a valid underground storage tank installer license from KDHE. During jobs involving the installation, repair, or removal of an underground storage tank, an individual with a valid UST installer license must be present at the job site for no less than 75% of the time during work.
Installer License Requirement
Each UST contractor must employ at least one licensed UST installer. Individual installer licenses are issued for a 2-year period and are subject to periodic renewal.
Fees
- Initial Application Fee: $200
- Biennial Renewal Fee: $100
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years
- Requirements: Submit renewal application and fee, and maintain at least one licensed installer on staff
Consequences of Operating Without a License
