Kansas Manufactured Home Installer License

The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) issues manufactured home installer licenses as required by the Kansas Manufactured Housing Act and HUD regulations. Anyone installing manufactured homes in Kansas must hold a valid installer license from KHRC.

What This License Authorizes

A manufactured home installer license authorizes the holder to install manufactured homes in Kansas, including foundation setup, utility connections, and compliance with HUD installation standards.

Training and Examination

Applicants must complete a KHRC-certified installation training course and pass the installer examination, which tests skills necessary to properly install manufactured homes and knowledge of applicable laws.

Fees

  • Application Fee: $300 (includes examination fee)
  • Renewal Fee: $300
  • Apprentice Installer Application: $75 (2-year term with $75 renewal)

Renewal Process

  • Renewal Period: Every 3 years
  • Apprentice Renewal: Every 2 years at $75

Apprentice Installer Path

An apprentice installer license is available for $75, valid for 2 years. Apprentice installers must work under the direct supervision of a licensed installer while gaining experience toward full licensure.

Consequences of Operating Without a License

Installing manufactured homes without a valid KHRC license is a violation of the Kansas Manufactured Housing Act. Violators face civil penalties of up to $1,000 per violation, and the Kansas Attorney General may seek injunctive relief to stop unauthorized installation activity.
