Get the filing straight.

    File through Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) — HVAC Board and pay the $75.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

    Typical processing time is 21 days, so do not wait until the last minute.

If you miss the deadline, the late penalty is $35.00.

Idaho HVAC Journeyman License


The Idaho HVAC Board issues journeyman licenses to qualified HVAC technicians who have completed the required apprenticeship and passed the state examination.


What This License Authorizes


Licensed HVAC Journeymen may perform HVAC installation, alteration, and repair work under the supervision of or employment by a licensed HVAC Contractor. Journeyman status is a prerequisite for the HVAC Contractor license.


Prerequisites


  • Completion of an HVAC apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience
  • Must pass the Idaho HVAC journeyman examination

  • Renewal Fee: $75 per year
  • Late Renewal Fee: $110 (within one year of expiration; includes $35 late penalty)

Consequences of Operating Without a License


Performing HVAC work without a valid journeyman license is a misdemeanor in Idaho. Violations may result in fines and work stoppage orders.
