Alaska Mechanical Administrator License
The Alaska DCBPL issues the Mechanical Administrator license to individuals who supervise mechanical trade work including plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, and refrigeration. A mechanical contractor business must have an assigned Mechanical Administrator to operate legally.
What This License Authorizes
The Mechanical Administrator license is a supervisory license authorizing the holder to oversee mechanical trade work within their licensed categories. Available categories include Residential HVAC (RHVC), Residential Plumbing and Hydronic Heating (RPHH), Unlimited Commercial and Industrial Plumbing (UCIP), Unlimited HVAC/Sheet Metal (UHVCS), Unlimited Refrigeration (UR), and Mechanical Systems Temperature Control (CNTL).
Examination
Applicants must pass a category-specific examination. The exam fee is $150 per category. Exams cover code compliance, installation practices, and safety requirements for the relevant mechanical discipline.

Consequences of Operating Without a License
