Alabama Manufactured Home Installer Certification
The Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission (AMHC) certifies installers of manufactured homes and manufactured buildings statewide. Certification is required for any person performing manufactured home installation.
Requirements
- Training: Must complete AMHC installer course and pass written or oral test
- Insurance: General liability ($100,000 minimum) and workers' compensation required
- Bond: $20,000 surety bond required
- Application Fee: $200
Continuing Education
- Refresher Course: Required every 2 years after initial certification
- Provider: Courses conducted by the AMHC at locations throughout the state
- Failure to complete: May result in certification revocation

Bond Requirement
A $20,000 surety bond is required to protect consumers against defective installation work.

Federal Requirements
Manufactured home installers must comply with HUD's federal installation standards in addition to Alabama state requirements. The AMHC enforces both federal and state standards.
Scope of Work
Covers installation, setup, anchoring, and blocking of manufactured homes. A certified installer or employee with a current certificate of training must be present during the entire installation process.
