    File with the board

    File through Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors and pay the $220.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

Alabama HVAC Contractor License


The Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors (HACR) licenses HVAC contractors statewide. A license is required for any person or company installing, servicing, or repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems.


Requirements


  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of HVAC experience
  • Examination: Must pass the HACR contractor exam
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation required
  • EPA Certification: Section 608 certification required for refrigerant handling
  • Application Fee: $220

Continuing Education


  • Hours: 4 hours per renewal cycle
  • Topics: Mechanical code updates, energy efficiency, refrigerant regulations, and safety
  • Providers: Approved by the HACR Board
