Wisconsin Fire Sprinkler Contractor License
The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) licenses contractors who install, maintain, and repair fire sprinkler systems throughout the state. This is a 4-year credential with a $2,000 renewal fee — not a biennial $100 license.
Requirements
- Certification: NICET certification required
- Examination: Must pass the state fire sprinkler exam
- Experience: Documented fire sprinkler installation experience
- Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance
- Application Fee: $2,125 ($25 application + $100 exam + $2,000 credential fee per DSPS fee schedule)

- Late Penalty: $25 flat DSPS late processing fee within grace period
Scope of Work
Licensed fire sprinkler contractors can design, install, inspect, maintain, and repair automatic fire sprinkler systems in commercial and residential buildings throughout Wisconsin.
