    File through Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and pay the $100.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

Wisconsin Elevator Contractor License


The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) licenses contractors who install, maintain, and repair elevator and escalator systems throughout the state.


Requirements


  • Experience: Documented elevator/escalator installation and maintenance experience
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance
  • Application Fee: $150

Renewal Information


  • Renewal Period: Every 2 years
  • Renewal Fee: $100
  • No CE Required: DSPS does not mandate continuing education for elevator contractors
  • Late Penalty: $25 flat DSPS late processing fee within grace period

Scope of Work


Licensed elevator contractors can install, maintain, repair, and inspect elevator systems, escalators, dumbwaiters, and other conveyance systems throughout Wisconsin.


Safety Standards


All elevator work must comply with the ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators as adopted by Wisconsin. Regular inspections are mandatory for all installed systems.
