Detailed notes
The fine print is here.
Wisconsin Asbestos Abatement Contractor License
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) certifies companies performing asbestos abatement, removal, and encapsulation work throughout the state. This is a biennial company certification — not an annual license — with a $400 fee for both initial application and renewal.
Requirements
- Training: EPA-accredited asbestos contractor/supervisor training for company personnel
- Experience: Documented asbestos abatement experience
- Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance
- Application Fee: $400
Renewal Information
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years
- Renewal Fee: $400
- Continuing Education: No CE requirement applies to the company certification itself. Individual workers must complete an 8-hour annual refresher course, but that obligation runs with the individual, not with this company credential.
Scope of Work
Certified asbestos abatement companies can identify, remove, encapsulate, and dispose of asbestos-containing materials in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Regulatory Framework
Wisconsin's asbestos regulations are administered through DHS and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Both EPA NESHAP and Wisconsin environmental regulations apply to all abatement work.
