Experience and Examination Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following:

1 year (2,000 hours) of actual hands-on electrical work experience, OR
Completion of an approved US Department of Labor formal Apprenticeship program, OR
Completion of an approved West Virginia Department of Education 1,080-hour vocational course

All applicants must pass an open-book exam based on the 2023 NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (50 multiple-choice questions, 2 points each).
