West Virginia HVAC Technician License

The West Virginia Division of Labor issues the HVAC Technician certification under WV Code 21-16. This certification is required to legally perform heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration work in West Virginia when the project exceeds $1,000.

What This License Authorizes

Certified HVAC Technicians may install, maintain, repair, and service heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This includes residential and commercial HVAC work.

Experience and Examination Requirements

Experience: 6,000 hours of experience and/or training in HVAC systems and related work (must include at least 2,000 hours of direct HVAC hands-on experience)
Examination: Administered by ProV International. Covers HVAC installation, service, and safety codes.
