Montana Water Well Driller License
The Montana Board of Water Well Contractors, under the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), issues the Water Well Driller license. This individual license is required for persons who operate well drilling equipment to construct, deepen, repair, or abandon water wells.
What This License Authorizes
Water Well Drillers may operate drilling equipment to construct, deepen, repair, and abandon water wells and monitoring wells in Montana. Drillers work under a licensed Water Well Contractor.
Requirements
- Documented drilling experience
- Must pass the Water Well Driller examination
- Application/License Fee: $275

- 4 hours of approved continuing education required per renewal period

Consequences of Operating Without a License
