Montana Crane/Hoisting Operator License — Third Class (Crane Oiler)
The Montana Crane/Hoisting Operator Program issues the Third Class Crane Oiler license for operators who move truck cranes. This is the entry-level license in the Montana crane operator classification system.
What This License Authorizes
Third Class Crane Oilers are authorized to move truck cranes. This is a limited operational scope compared to First and Second Class licenses.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass the written examination with a score of 75% or higher
- Application Fee: $60 (non-refundable)
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Annual (license expires one year after date of issuance)
- Renewal Fee: $50
- Renew online through the DLI licensing portal
Consequences of Operating Without a License
