Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician License
The Maine Fuel Board requires a Propane and Natural Gas Technician license before you can install, service, connect, or deliver propane or natural gas equipment in Maine. Operating without this license is a violation of Title 32, Chapter 139.
Your License Covers Specific Authority Categories — Not All Gas Work
This is a category-based credential, not a general gas authorization. The Maine Fuel Board issues the license for one or more of five authority categories:
- Delivery Technician — propane delivery operations
- Plant Operator — propane plant operations
- Tank Setter and Outside Piping — tank installation and exterior gas piping
- Appliance Connection and Service — connecting and servicing gas appliances
- Large Equipment Connection and Service — commercial-scale gas equipment
You may only perform work within your licensed categories.
