Maine Master Oil Burner / Solid Fuel Technician License
The Maine Fuel Board, under the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation, issues Master Oil Burner and Solid Fuel Technician licenses. This license authorizes the holder to install, repair, service, and supervise oil burner and solid fuel heating equipment.
What This License Authorizes
Master Oil Burner / Solid Fuel Technicians may perform and supervise all oil burner and solid fuel equipment installations, maintenance, and repairs. They may supervise licensed Journeyman and Apprentice technicians.
Requirements
- Pass the Master examination ($65-$90 exam fee)
- Complete at least 4 years of licensed experience, with at least 2 years as a licensed Journeyman
- Complete a criminal background check ($21 fee)
- Application Fee: $221 (includes $200 license fee + $21 background check)
Continuing Education
Master Oil Burner / Solid Fuel Technicians must complete 8 hours of continuing education for each biennial renewal period.
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years from date of first licensure
- Renewal Fee: $200
- Late Fee: $50 for renewals up to 90 days after expiration
- Renewals more than 90 days but within 2 years require a $100 license fee plus $100 penalty fee for reinstatement
Insurance
Insurance is not required by the Board for individual licensure, but is recommended.
