Maine Apprentice Oil Burner / Solid Fuel Technician License
The Maine Fuel Board, under the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation, issues Apprentice Oil Burner and Solid Fuel Technician licenses. This is the entry-level license for individuals beginning their career in oil burner and solid fuel heating equipment.
What This License Authorizes
Apprentice technicians may perform oil burner and solid fuel equipment work only under the direct supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master technician. This license enables holders to accumulate the experience required to advance to the Journeyman level.
Requirements
- Completed application
- Complete a criminal background check ($21 fee)
- Application Fee: $61 (includes $40 license fee + $21 background check)
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years from date of first licensure
- Renewal Fee: $40
- Late Fee: $50 for renewals up to 90 days after expiration
- No Continuing Education Required at the Apprentice level
