Louisiana Mechanical Contractor License


The LSLBC licenses mechanical contractors for piping, sheet metal, and industrial mechanical work on projects valued at $50,000 or more. This is distinct from the HVAC-specific classification.


Requirements


  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of mechanical contracting experience
  • Examination: Must pass the LSLBC mechanical contractor trade exam and business law exam
  • Financial Statement: CPA-prepared financial statement required
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation required
  • Application Fee: ~$340 for a single classification (fees vary by number of classifications)

Continuing Education


No continuing education required for commercial mechanical contractors. Residential contractors must complete 6 hours per year.
