Louisiana HVAC Contractor License (Mechanical)
The LSLBC licenses HVAC contractors under the mechanical classification for projects valued at $50,000 or more. Louisiana's hot, humid climate makes HVAC one of the most critical and in-demand trades in the state.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of HVAC/mechanical experience
- Examination: Must pass the LSLBC mechanical trade exam and business law exam
- Financial Statement: CPA-prepared financial statement required
- Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation required
- EPA Certification: Section 608 certification required for refrigerant handling
- Application Fee: ~$340 for a single classification (fees vary by number of classifications)
Continuing Education
No continuing education required for commercial HVAC contractors. Residential contractors must complete 6 hours per year.
