    File through Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) and pay the $100.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

Louisiana Home Improvement Contractor License


The LSLBC licenses home improvement contractors for residential projects valued between $7,500 and $50,000. This license fills the gap between unlicensed minor repairs and the full general contractor license threshold of $50,000.


Requirements


  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of residential construction or improvement experience
  • Examination: Must pass the LSLBC home improvement contractor exam
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation required
  • Application Fee: $135

  • Minimum: $7,500 (below this, no license required)
  • Maximum: $50,000 (above this, a full general contractor license is needed)

  • Hours: 6 hours per renewal cycle
