Delaware Master Special Electrician License
The Delaware Board of Electrical Examiners issues the Master Special Electrician license for electricians who specialize in specific categories of electrical work, including air conditioning/heating, swimming pools, electric signs, elevators, primary distribution, and refrigeration systems.
What This License Authorizes
Master Special Electricians may plan, lay out, and supervise electrical work within their designated specialty category. Specialty categories include HVAC electrical, pool electrical, sign electrical, elevator electrical, primary distribution, and refrigeration electrical work.
Experience Requirements
- Six years of full-time experience in the specialty area under appropriate supervision
Insurance Requirements
- General Liability Insurance: Minimum $300,000 required
Examination
Applicants must pass the Master Special Electrician examination for their designated specialty category.
Continuing Education
- 10 hours of approved continuing education per renewal period
- Beginning with the second renewal, 5 of the 10 CE hours must relate to the National Electric Code
Fees
- Application/License Fee: $200
- Renewal Fee: $200 (biennial)
- Late Fee: 50% of the renewal fee ($100)
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years, expires June 30 of even-numbered years
- Renew online through DELPROS
- Must maintain current general liability insurance and complete CE requirements
