Get the filing straight.

    Complete the 10 required hours before you start the renewal.

    Make sure the required policies are current and match what the board or agency expects before you file.

    File through Delaware Division of Professional Regulation, Board of Electrical Examiners and pay the $203.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

Delaware Master Electrician License


The Delaware Board of Electrical Examiners, under the Division of Professional Regulation (DPR), issues the Master Electrician license. This license authorizes the holder to plan, lay out, and supervise the installation, alteration, and repair of electrical wiring, apparatus, and equipment.


What This License Authorizes


Master Electricians may perform and supervise all types of electrical work without restriction. They may employ and supervise journeyperson, limited, and apprentice electricians.


Experience Requirements


  • Six years of full-time experience under a Master Electrician, OR
  • Four years under a Master Electrician plus two years of technical training (official transcript required)

Insurance Requirements


  • General Liability Insurance: Minimum $300,000 required. Your name must appear on the insurance document, even if your employer holds the policy.

Examination


Applicants must pass the Master Electrician examination. The exam may be taken before submitting proof of insurance, but the license will not be issued until proof is received.


Continuing Education


  • 10 hours of approved continuing education per renewal period
  • Beginning with the second renewal, 5 of the 10 CE hours must relate to the National Electric Code
  • All late renewals are audited for CE compliance

  • Application/License Fee: $203
  • Renewal Fee: $203 (biennial)
  • Late Fee: 50% of the renewal fee ($101.50)

Renewal Process


  • Renewal Period: Every 2 years, expires June 30 of even-numbered years
  • Renew online through DELPROS
  • Must maintain current general liability insurance and complete CE requirements
  • May file late renewal up to 1 year after expiration with late fee
