Delaware Master HVACR License
The Delaware Board of Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Examiners issues the Master HVACR license through the Division of Professional Regulation (DPR). This full-scope license covers all HVACR disciplines including gas piping.
What This License Authorizes
Master HVACR licensees may design, install, construct, maintain, service, repair, alter, or modify products and equipment including gas piping in heating and air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and process cooling or heating systems.
Experience Requirements
- With Journeyman Certificate: Apprenticeship completion plus at least 2 years of work experience under a master licensee
- Without Journeyman Certificate: At least 7 years of work experience under a master licensee
- By Reciprocity: Connecticut and Maryland without additional experience; most other states require 7 years post-licensure
Examination and Certification
- Must pass the Master HVACR examination with a score of 70% or higher
- CFC Certification required for refrigeration and air conditioning specialties

- Application/License Fee: $173
- Renewal Fee: $173 (biennial)
- Late Fee: 50% of the renewal fee ($86.50)
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years, expires October 31 of even-numbered years
- Renew online through DELPROS
- CE requirements take effect for the 2026 renewal cycle
- May file late renewal up to 1 year after expiration with late fee
