Detailed notes

The fine print is here.

Delaware Apprentice Electrician Registration

The Delaware Board of Electrical Examiners requires all electrical apprentices to register with the Division of Professional Regulation (DPR) under Title 24, Chapter 14 of the Delaware Code. This registration authorizes the holder to perform electrical work under the direct supervision of a licensed Master or Limited Electrician while completing their apprenticeship.

What This Registration Authorizes

Apprentice Electricians may perform electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work only under the direct and immediate supervision of a licensed Master or Limited Electrician. Apprentices may not perform electrical work independently.

Enrollment Requirements

  • Current Enrollment: Must be actively enrolled in an apprenticeship program approved by the Delaware Board of Electrical Examiners or by the Department of Labor of any jurisdiction
  • Enrollment Verification: Submit a letter on official letterhead from the program confirming current enrollment, program start date, program end date, and program type
  • Prior Experience: If previously licensed in another state, submit verification of licensure directly from that jurisdiction to the Board

Application Process

Submit the application through DELPROS (Delaware Professional Regulation Online Services). Applicants have six months from the start of the program to complete and submit their application. The Board reviews enrollment documentation before issuing the registration.

Fees

  • Application/Registration Fee: $79
  • Renewal Fee: Notified at time of renewal through DELPROS — the Board does not publish a renewal fee amount in advance
  • Late Fee: 50% of the renewal fee, charged after expiration

Renewal Process

  • Renewal Period: Every 2 years, expiring June 30 of even-numbered years
  • Renew online through DELPROS
  • No continuing education requirement for apprentice registration
  • Registration lapses if enrollment in the approved apprenticeship program ends

Consequences of Working Without Registration

Performing electrical work without proper registration violates Title 24, Chapter 14. The Board may impose disciplinary action. All apprentice work must occur under direct licensed supervision.
