Detailed notes
The fine print is here.
Arkansas Residential Roofer Registration
Effective January 1, 2022, the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board (ACLB) requires all contractors performing residential roofing work valued over $2,000 in labor and materials to obtain a Residential Roofer Registration. This replaced the former Home Improvement Roofing License.
What This Registration Authorizes
Registered Residential Roofers may perform roofing, roof deck repairs, and roofing sheet metal work on single-family residential properties. This registration is specifically for roofing-only work; contractors performing additional trades need the appropriate additional licenses.
Application Requirements
- Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
- No Exam Required: The Residential Roofer Registration does not require passing a written examination
- Business References: Three non-supplier or banker references required
Insurance Requirements
- General Liability Insurance: Certificate of insurance in the business name required
- Workers' Compensation: Required if you have employees
Renewal Process
- Renewal Period: Annual
- Renewal Fee: $25
- Late Fee: $50 if renewal is not completed by the expiration date
- No Continuing Education Required: Maintain current insurance throughout the registration term.
Consequences of Operating Without Registration
Performing residential roofing work valued over $2,000 without a valid ACLB registration is a Class A misdemeanor under Arkansas law. Fines range from $100 to $200 per offense, with each day of unregistered work counting as a separate violation.
