Arkansas HVAC Contractor - Class B License


The Arkansas HVACR Licensing Board issues the Class B HVAC contractor license for contractors performing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work within specified capacity limits. This license is appropriate for contractors focused on residential and light commercial HVAC systems.


What This License Authorizes


Class B HVAC contractors may install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems within the capacity limits specified by the HVACR Board. This typically covers residential and smaller commercial systems but does not authorize work on large-scale commercial or industrial HVAC installations.


Application Requirements


  • License Fee: $150
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years as a registered HVAC technician under a licensed contractor, or graduation from a board-approved training program with at least 6 months of on-the-job experience
  • Examination: Must pass the Class B HVAC examination (computer-based exam fee: $100)
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old

Insurance Requirements


  • General Liability Insurance: Minimum $250,000 coverage required
  • Workers' Compensation: Required if you have employees

Continuing Education


Class B HVAC contractors must complete 4 hours of approved continuing education annually prior to license renewal.
