    Complete the 4 required hours before you start the renewal.

    Check the insurance certificates

    Make sure the required policies are current and match what the board or agency expects before you file.

    File through Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and pay the $171.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

Washington Manufactured Home Installer Certification


The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) certifies manufactured home installers under the Factory Assembled Structures program. Certification is required to install manufactured and mobile homes.


Requirements


  • Examination: Must pass the L&I manufactured home installer exam
  • Insurance: General liability insurance required
  • Continuing Education: 4 hours per 3-year renewal cycle
  • Application Fee: $342.30 (initial)

  • Continuing Education: 4 hours required each cycle
  • Late Penalty: No explicit late fee; must reapply if 90+ days late
  • Grace Period: 30 days after expiration

Scope of Work


Certified installers may set up, install, and anchor manufactured homes, modular homes, and factory-assembled structures throughout Washington.


Penalties for Non-Compliance


Installing manufactured homes without valid certification is a violation subject to fines and enforcement action by L&I.
