South Dakota Individual and Small On-site Wastewater System Installer License
The South Dakota Plumbing Commission issues the Individual and Small On-site Wastewater System Installer license to individuals and businesses that install septic systems and other on-site wastewater treatment systems in rural and suburban areas not served by municipal sewer.
What This License Authorizes
An On-site Wastewater System Installer may perform installation of individual septic tanks, drain fields, mound systems, and other small on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems.
Who Needs This License
Contractors and individuals who install, repair, or replace individual septic systems and small on-site wastewater systems. This license is particularly relevant for rural construction where municipal sewer is not available.
Application Requirements
Applicants must pass the on-site wastewater system examination. No experience verification form is required beyond the application itself.

Renewal

Consequences of Operating Without a License
