Oregon Residential Specialty Contractor License

The Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) issues the Residential Specialty Contractor license to contractors who perform one or two unrelated building trades on residential or small commercial projects.

What This License Authorizes

Residential specialty contractors perform trade-specific construction work on residential structures and small commercial structures within the CCB residential endorsement framework. The building trades may change from job to job, but the endorsement is narrower than the residential general contractor classification.

Bond and Insurance Requirements

Surety bond: $20,000 residential bond
General liability insurance: $300,000 per occurrence
Workers' compensation: Required if you have employees

Licensing and Renewal

Pre-license training and exam: The current CCB licensing page says the Responsible Managing Individual must complete at least 16 hours of pre-license training from an approved provider and pass the Oregon contractor exam, unless a listed alternative qualification path applies
