Illinois Asbestos Abatement Contractor License


The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) licenses asbestos abatement contractors under the Illinois Environmental Protection Act. A valid license is required to perform asbestos removal, encapsulation, and enclosure work.


Requirements


  • Training: Completion of EPA-accredited asbestos abatement training
  • Examination: Must pass the IDPH asbestos contractor exam
  • Experience: Documented asbestos abatement experience required
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance required
  • Continuing Education: 8 hours per renewal cycle
  • Application Fee: $750 ($250 application + $500 license fee)

Scope of Work
