Georgia Master Plumber License
The Master Plumber license is issued by the Georgia Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers under the Secretary of State. A master plumber license is required to contract for plumbing work in Georgia.
Requirements
- Experience: Must hold a Journeyman Plumber license and have documented supervisory experience
- Examination: Must pass the Master Plumber examination
- Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation insurance required
- Application: Submit through the GOALS online portal
Renewal Information
- Renewal Period: Every 2 years (by November 30 of even-numbered years)
- Renewal Fee: $75
- Late Penalty: $50 for late renewal (December 1-31)
- Continuing Education: 4 hours per year (8 total per renewal cycle), covering updates to the International Plumbing Code
- Application Fee: $110
License Levels
- Apprentice Plumber: Entry-level, works under supervision
- Journeyman Plumber: Can perform plumbing work under a Master Plumber's supervision
- Master Plumber: Can contract for and supervise all plumbing work
