Before you renew

Get the filing straight.

    Finish the CE first

    Complete the 8 required hours before you start the renewal.

    File with the board

    File through Georgia Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers and pay the $35.00 renewal fee once the supporting proof is ready.

    Typical processing time is 30 days, so do not wait until the last minute.

If you miss the deadline, the late penalty is $50.00, with a 31-day grace period.

Georgia Journeyman Plumber License


The Journeyman Plumber license is issued by the Georgia Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers. This license allows plumbers to perform work under the supervision of a Master Plumber.


Requirements


  • Experience: Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Examination: Must pass the Journeyman Plumber examination
  • Supervision: Must work under a licensed Master Plumber

Renewal Information


  • Renewal Period: Every 2 years (by November 30 of even-numbered years)
  • Renewal Fee: $35
  • Late Penalty: $50 for late renewal
  • Continuing Education: 4 hours per year (8 total per renewal cycle)

  • Application Fee: $110

Scope of Work


Journeyman Plumbers can:

  • Perform plumbing installation and repair work
  • Work on residential and commercial plumbing systems
  • Must operate under the direction of a Master Plumber
  • Cannot independently contract for plumbing work

Career Path


After gaining sufficient experience as a Journeyman, plumbers can take the Master Plumber exam to advance their career and gain the ability to independently contract for plumbing work.
