Vermont Lead-Safe RRPM Supervisor License
If you plan to supervise renovation, repair, painting, or maintenance work that disturbs lead-based paint in pre-1978 buildings, you need this annual individual license from the Vermont Department of Health before stepping on-site.
On-Site Presence Required
A licensed RRPM Supervisor must remain on-site the entire time RRPM work is underway — not just check in and leave. Your employer must also hold a Lead-Safe RRPM Firm license; a supervisor working for an unlicensed firm creates a dual compliance gap.
Training to Qualify
Before applying, complete both:
- 8-hour Initial RRP training from an EPA-accredited provider — initial and in-person refresher certificates are valid for 5 years; online refresher certificates are valid for only 3 years
- 2-hour Vermont IRC Practices training offered by the Vermont Asbestos and Lead Regulatory Program — certificate valid for 5 years
Both certificates must stay current. An expired training certificate voids your eligibility at renewal.
Fee and Renewal
- Annual license fee: $50
- License is valid for one year from issuance
- Apply and renew at the Vermont Department of Health's licenses and certificates page
Enforcement
The Vermont Department of Health enforces Vermont's EPA-authorized RRP program. The Department investigates complaints and takes action against unlicensed supervisors and firms.
