How to handle it
What to handle first.
- 1
Confirm what rule you are actually dealing with
Check Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) first so you know whether this is a license, a firm certification, or a training rule before you plan around it.
Open official source - 2
Use the approved training or certification path
Use the official source and its approved providers, trainers, or certifying organizations instead of relying on third-party summaries alone.
- 3
Keep the proof where the crew can find it
Store the card, firm record, or completion proof where you can show it when a jobsite, employer, supplier, or inspector asks.

Nevada Remodeling License Categories
Nevada does not use one combined remodeling classification for both commercial and residential remodeling. The Nevada State Contractors Board lists B-6 Commercial Remodeling and B-7 Residential Remodeling as separate official classifications.
Official Nevada Remodeling Categories
- B-6 Commercial Remodeling
- B-7 Residential Remodeling
Why This Matters
The Board's classification list and the 2023 B-7 bulletin make clear that residential remodeling is not just a marketing variant of commercial remodeling. If you are applying, broadening an existing classification, or evaluating scope, start with the category-specific page rather than assuming one combined remodeling page covers both.
Where To Start
- Use the NSCB classification list to confirm whether your work fits B-6 or B-7.
- Use the general NSCB licensing requirements page for the statewide application, exam, bond, and renewal framework.
- Use the category-specific Nevada pages for the scope boundaries that matter to your work.
