Renew your City of Palm Bay Business Tax Receipt online through the iMS portal at https://ims.palmbayfl.gov/. Create a user account or use guest access. For assistance, contact the Community & Economic Development Department at (321) 952-3419 or biztax@palmbayfl.gov, or visit City Hall Annex, 2nd Floor, 120 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, FL 32907. Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Annual BTR fiscal year runs October 1 – September 30. Renewal notices are sent in advance of the September 30 expiration. To renew online, you will need your Business Control Number and the annual receipt fee amount shown on the renewal notice — contact the BTR office at (321) 952-3419 if you have not received your renewal notice.
Delinquency penalties begin October 1 per FL Statute 205.053 and escalate monthly through January, capped by statute. FL Statute 205.053(3) imposes an additional statewide civil penalty if the business tax remains unpaid for an extended period after initial notice of tax due — this is self-executing and does not require the City of Palm Bay to expressly invoke it in local ordinance.
Payment accepted online (credit/debit card or electronic check at no additional fee), or by check or money order in person. Cash payments are not accepted.
Businesses using a Fictitious Name (DBA) must provide a copy of their Fictitious Name Registration when applying for or renewing the BTR (effective July 1, 2017). Contractors must provide a copy of their state DBPR license or professional license at application.
A separate Brevard County Local Business Tax Receipt is also required. Obtain the City of Palm Bay BTR first, then apply for the Brevard County BTR through the Brevard County Tax Collector (https://www.brevardtaxcollector.com/services/business-tax-receipts/ or BTExpress portal). Contact Brevard County Tax Collector at (321) 264-6969 or (321) 633-2199 to confirm the current fee and requirements.
Per Florida Statute 205.065, a DBPR-regulated contractor who has already paid local business tax to the Florida county or municipality where their permanent business location or branch office is maintained is exempt from a Palm Bay BTR for work or services performed on a temporary or transitory basis.
