Renew your Business Tax Receipt online through the City of Daytona Beach iMS portal at https://daytonabeach.ims16.com/ims. You will need to create an account or log in as a guest. For assistance, contact Permits & Licensing (Business Tax Division) at (386) 671-8178 (direct) or (386) 671-8280 (general questions), or visit City Hall at 301 S. Ridgewood Ave., Rm 127B, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Office hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Annual Business Tax Receipt runs October 1 – September 30. The BTR expires September 30 each year. Renew on or before September 30 to avoid delinquency penalties. Contact Permits & Licensing at (386) 671-8178 to confirm current processing times.
Delinquency penalties begin October 1 per FL Statute 205.053 and escalate monthly through January, capped by statute. FL Statute 205.053(3) imposes an additional statewide civil penalty if the business tax remains unpaid for an extended period after initial notice of tax due — this is self-executing and does not require the City of Daytona Beach to expressly invoke it in local ordinance.
YourStanding must not calculate the BTR fee — fees are set by city commission and vary by business type (some categories use graduating scales); contact Permits & Licensing at (386) 671-8178 to confirm the current applicable fee for your specific business classification.
At application, contractors must provide their state DBPR license or certificate number and expiration date on the BTR application form. Zoning approval is required before a BTR is issued — allow additional processing time for zoning review.
Volusia County does NOT require a separate companion Business Tax Receipt — the Volusia County BTR ordinance was repealed effective January 1, 2024. Only the City of Daytona Beach BTR is required for businesses operating within city limits.
Per Florida Statute 205.065, a DBPR-regulated contractor who has already paid local business tax to the Florida county or municipality where their permanent business location or branch office is maintained is exempt from a Daytona Beach BTR for work or services performed on a temporary or transitory basis.
