Colorado State Electrical Contractor License


The Colorado State Electrical Board, under the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), licenses electrical contractors statewide. This license is required for anyone performing electrical installations or alterations.


Requirements


  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of practical electrical experience under a licensed electrician
  • Examination: Must pass the state electrical contractor exam
  • Insurance: General liability and workers' compensation required
  • Application Fee: $210

Continuing Education


  • Hours: 24 hours per renewal cycle (every 2 years)
  • Topics: Must include Colorado electrical code updates and safety
  • Providers: Approved by the State Electrical Board
